AMALIE (STOBBE) HAUPT 1818-1880
Amalie Stobbe is my 3X great-grandmother on my father's side. She had a son, Daniel, who had a son, Gustav. Gustav's daughter had a son named Fredy (my father).
Her parents were Michael and Maria Elisabeth (Schlicht) Stobbe.
German may be the default language for many of our deadfamilytales links.

Her baptism was held in the Bartenstein parish church shown below (St. Johannes Evangelist Kirche). GPS: 54° 15′ N , 20° 49′ E
She and Daniel Haupt married in the Evangelische Kirche, Gross Lappienen, in Kreis Niederung, Ost Prussia on February 9, 1839. That church (shown below) is considered to be the most important church in the Niederung district in terms of art history.
This was the Haupt family's church from some time before 1762, continuing possibly until The Flight in 1945.
Her baptism was 60 miles south of her wedding location in Niederung. The Haupt family had already established themselves near the Curonian Lagoon, so it appears that she moved from her home town to be with the Haupt family.
Traditional folk song from Memelland (Memelgebiet) in Kleinlitauen / Preußisch-Litauen region of former East Prussia. Filmed in 1995 Nida (Nidden) on the Curonian spit (Kurische Nehrung), sung by the town's folk group. All women are wearing casual versions of their traditional folk clothing (not to be confused with the festive national costume).
Gustav immigrated to Decatur, Illinois in America with his wife and children in 1914.
I welcome any new documentation that would add to our family stories!
My goal in all of the Dead Family Tales is to present stories that would have been told around a kitchen table or campfire during family gatherings.
A new Dead Family Tale is posted every Monday.

If you are in a position to help with funding?
My research is a labor of love, but even $1 is appreciated!
I am also looking to train someone to take over Dead Family Tales in the future (distant future - God willing) if I should be unable to continue due to death or senility LOL. Think about it.
